La préparation du mélange polymérisant se fait au dernier moment: le N-Butyl Cyanoacrylate est mélangé en proportions variables à une huile iodée. Cette huile iodée donne le caractère radio-opaque au mélange et agit sur le temps de polymérisation (ce temps est grossièrement fonction de la quantité d'huile iodée). Outre les proportions du mélange, interviennent dans le temps de polymérisation le pH, la température et surtout la vitesse d'injection.
