A synthetic flavoring derived from the dried roots of either of two American shrubs [Krameria triandra and K. argentea]. Used in raspberry, bitters, fruit, and rum flavorings for beverages, ice cream, ices, candy, chewing gum, and liquor. Also used as an astringent.
