It is a component of the Department of Justice. The Labour Standards Officer is appointed by legislative requirement of the Labour Standards Act. The Officer is responsible for administration of the Labour Standards Act. Special Note: Other Legislation applies to workers in Nunavut including the Safety Act, and the Mine Health and Safety Act, which are administered by the Workers' Compensation Board.
