Founded in 1893, the Ladies' Golf Union ("LGU") is the encompassing body for ladies' amateur golf in Great Britain & Ireland. The LGU's administrative base is in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, while activities, championships, matches and events take place in Great Britain & Ireland and internationally.

On [January 1st] 2017, The R&A merged with the Ladies' Golf Union (LGU) and took on governance responsibility for women's golf.
