The clinical features (of Type I immediate hypersensitivity or anaphylactic reactions) include some or all of the following: generalized erythema and pruritus, urticaria, angioedema, gastrointestinal symptoms, bronchospasm, laryngoedema and hypotension.

Le banal œdème de Quincke, habituellement bénin et réversible de façon spontanée et généralement rapide, peut parfois s'accompagner d'œdème de la glotte entraînant un accès de suffocation, pouvant aller jusqu'à l'asphyxie et entraîner la mort du malade. Ces cas peuvent se voir après piqûre d'hyménoptères ou accident médicamenteux mais s'observent surtout dans le cadre de l'œdème angio-neurotique.
