«tolneu» : Ce terme remonte au XIIe s.; il s'est altéré en tonlieu au XIIIe s. Outre ce synonyme, trois autres sont répertoriés dans le Dictionnaire de l'ancien français, de Larousse: tonneur, tonnil et tonneuage. Ces derniers semblent cependant avoir été d'un usage moins courant.
