C'est le mot "Hill" qui crée des difficultés en français. En traduisant le nom au complet on arrive à une version bien lourde. L'usage courant parmi les francophones est "parc Major", mais l'histoire veut que l'idée de la colline du major soit conservée dans la traduction, sinon, on s'éloigne trop de l'anglais originel. Le Comité [consultatif qui a été créé par la Commission de la Capitale nationale] a opté pour un compromis: "parc Major's Hill (dit parc Major)".
