Building on the activities of the Management Development Programme, started in 1989, the Management Development and Governance Division (MDGD) was established in 1995 to respond to increasing demands on United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for technical assistance in governance and management development. The Division is part of the Bureau for Development Policy, the global knowledge hub of the UNDP. The Bureau captures and disseminates country-based experiences and best practices as a way of continually creating new knowledge and feeding back lessons to operational activities, both internally and externally.
