On August 17, 2000, the government announced the launch of the Maritime Helicopter Project (MHP). The announcement stated that two separate competitions would take place. The initial competition would result in two separate contracts, one for the Basic Vehicle (BV) and the other the In-Service Support of the BV. Le 17 août 2000, le gouvernement a annoncé le lancement du Projet des hélicoptères maritimes (PHM), dans le cadre duquel auront lieu deux appels d'offres. L'appel d'offres initial donnera lieu à deux marchés distincts : un pour l'achat d'hélicoptères véhicules de base (VB), et un pour leur soutien en service.
