Une autre caractéristique de la conception française de ce programme est sa fonction MASQUE. Si vous utilisez un modem (un appareil permettant la transmission de données par ligne téléphonique), vos accents seront nécessairement perdus en cours de transmission à cause d'une limitation du code de transmission. Cependant, les lettres qui supportent ces accents seront préservées : même si l'accent sur le «é» est perdu, le «e» lui-même sera préservé. Sans cette fonction qui masque seulement les accents et non les lettres, le récepteur au bout de la ligne ne recevrait qu'un charabia incompréhensible.
