Mesh effects in diffusion theory calculations are often of similar magnitude to the transport effect. In the case of mesh edge finite difference methods they are negative and therefore reinforce the transport effect, but for mesh centered methods they are positive so that some cancellation often occurs, though this should not be relied on. Transport and mesh effects must be treated. This can be done either by calculating correction factors or by generating equivalent cross-sections using a reactivity preservation method. 1, record 1, English, - mesh%20effect
