Ses propriétés sont proches des fibres de protéine naturelle (laine-soie), mais moins résistantes. Cette fibre est inattaquable aux mites et est infeutrable, sauf si on la mélange avec de la laine. [Elle est] utilisée pour les vêtements et la bonneterie.
