During 1997 the front line of trade issues was a little quieter, as the NAFTA Dispute Settlement Panel was successfully behind us. The Chicken Farmers of Canada took this opportunity to begin their preparations for the World Trade Organization (WTO) agriculture negotiations, slated to start in 1999.
