According to the new Naskapi land system, the village of Kawawachikamach territory, i.e. lands of category I A-N, is under Band Council responsibility, while lands of category I B-N come under the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the Naskapi Village of Schefferville and belong to the Naskapi Landholding Corporation.
