A collaborative program between the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and Health Canada, the objective of the National First Nations Environmental Contaminants Program (NFNECP) is to assess the extent of environmental contaminant exposure and the potential for associated risk to the health and well-being of First Nations in Canada. The NFNECP was launched in 1999 with the intent to encourage and enable First Nations community-initiated research projects on environmental contaminants. L'objectif du Programme national sur les contaminants de l'environnement chez les Premières nations (PNCEPN), un programme de collaboration entre l'Assemblée des Premières nations (APN) et Santé Canada, est d'évaluer le degré d'exposition aux contaminants de l'environnement et la possibilité de risques pour la santé et le bien-être des Premières nations au Canada. Le PNCEPN a été créé en 1999 pour encourager et faciliter les projets de recherche sur les contaminants de l'environnement organisés par les collectivités des Premières nations.
