Recognising that the conservation and sustainable use of wildlife resources can only be achieved through management based on knowledge and insight, the purpose of the NKV is to support wildlife research within the Nordic region, with particular emphasis on the continuous improvement of research quality and quantity, the implementation of scientific results into management, and the bringing of scientific results to knowledge both within the scientific and general communities.
