Multifocal lens with no telltale lines.

Progressive lenses (also called "no-line bifocals") offer a continuous, gradual change in prescription strength from the lower (reading correction) to the upper (distance correction) portion of the eyeglass lens, providing correction for all distances. Progressives lenses derive their name from the fact that they have progressively more "add" power from the top to the bottom of the lens. In a sense, progressives are bifocals or trifocals without the lines.

Le foyer progressif met les objets au point en suivant le mouvement naturel de l'œil, ce qui permet une vision continue, sans cassure : la puissance de la lentille varie progressivement du haut vers le bas du verre selon l'angle que l'on donne à ses yeux, de sorte que l'on distingue avec la même clarté un objet regardé de proche, de loin ou d'une distance intermédiaire. Et d'un point de vue esthétique, les verres progressifs ont cet avantage d'être si discrets qu'on ne les remarque pas.
