The exposure of an individual to ionizing radiation in a controlled area or in the course of employment in which the individual's normal duties or authorized activities necessarily involve the likelihood of exposure to ionizing radiation.

Occupational exposure to uranium may occur as a result of mining, milling and chemical processing of uranium ores. Uranium can be taken into the body by inhalation, ingestion, or absorption through wounds in the skin.

OBS

industrial exposure: Although this term has been used often in a general sense, including all the possible work environments, it should be reserved to describe the exposures occurring in industry only, especially in a factory.
