... organ-on-a-chip strives to mimic the structures of organs that can be used as disease or toxicity models for drug screening.

OBS

In the organ-on-a-chip concept, cells are cultured inside a so-called "chip." This chip is not a microprocessor or integrated circuit such as those present in many electronic devices, but it is often made using the same type of microfabrication process in a clean (completely dust-free) room ..., hence the term.
