One group of trilobites (...) has revealed the presence of a small round opening near the inner edge of doublures belonging to each thoracic segment and postero-lateral extremities of the cephalon; these structures, termed Panderian organs, have been postulated to denote poison glands or luminescent organs, but their significance really is quite unknown.
