Le miroir parabolique : la surface est un paraboloïde de révolution autour de l'axe principal. Si la source lumineuse est sensiblement un point au foyer du paraboloïde, le faisceau réfléchi est un faisceau cylindrique. Les réflecteurs de phares de marine ou d'automobiles sont souvent des miroirs paraboliques. Le miroir parabolique étant stigmatique pour le point à l'infini (son image est au foyer du paraboloïde), on l'utilise comme objectif dans certains télescopes.
