Cloud Point is the temperature at which paraffin, which is naturally present in No. 2 diesel fuel, begins to form cloudy wax crystals. When the fuel temperature reaches the cloud point, these wax crystals flow with the fuel, and coat the filter element.

Le point de trouble est la température à laquelle des cristaux de paraffine commencent à apparaître dans le liquide lorsqu’un carburant se refroidit. Quand de tels cristaux apparaissent et que le carburant se trouble, les filtres des moteurs diésels peuvent s’obstruer. Sans dispositifs de préchauffage des filtres et des conduites de carburant, le point de trouble restreint la possibilité de fonctionnement des moteurs diésels à basse température.
