Il semble qu'au Québec, «année» s'emploie là où le français général préfère «an». La répartition entre «an» et «année» est arbitraire et embarrasse les étrangers qui cherchent à écrire correctement, mais à qui on ne peut proposer aucune règle, sauf qu'«année» insiste davantage sur la durée.
