Petit-de-Grat : Nom officiel d'une entité habitée de Nouvelle-Écosse que l'on écrit incorrectement au son «Petit Dégrat». Même si «dégrat» trouve une explication, c'est le nom de l'Acte d'incorporation qui doit être utilisé, étant le seul à être officiel.

Petit Dégrat : Nom anglicisé d'une localité de la Nouvelle-Écosse. D'après Bescherelle, 1er sens, Départ. Être en dégrat se dit, parmi les pêcheurs de morue, d'un bateau qui a quitté le havre pour gagner le banc. Synonyme de «débarcadère». D'après le Larousse XXe siècle, qui suit le texte de Bescherelle, c'est par extension, que Dégrat a ce dernier sens.
