Dans les pays d'ensoleillement suffisant, la chimiophotothérapie est le traitement moderne le plus intéressant : une exposition au soleil (durée initiale 15 min, puis augmenter progressivement) est faite chaque jour 2 h après l'absorption d'une substance photodynamisante (8-méthoxypsoralène, psoralène). On sait maintenant que le soleil agit sur le psoriasis par ses UV A ou longs (320 à 400 nm).
