Poling of optical fibres and the like. A method of inducing a permanent electric field in a dielectric material is disclosed, generally known as "poling" of the material. Two electrodes are used for poling the material, and potentials of the same polarity compared to a surrounding ground potential are applied to the electrodes in order to effect the poling. Preferably, the applied potentials are of substantially equal magnitude. 2, record 1, English, - poling

3, record 5, French, - perchage
