OBS

The Government of Canada owns and operates three dams on Lake Nipissing at the headwaters of the French River. The Big Chaudière Dam, Little Chaudière Dam and Portage Dam each play a fundamental role in effective water management. The dams help to ensure that appropriate water levels are maintained for general boating and commercial navigation on Lake Nipissing, while balancing additional water management considerations.

Le gouvernement du Canada est le propriétaire et l'administrateur de trois barrages situés dans le cours supérieur de la rivière des Français, aux abords du lac Nipissing. Le barrage Big Chaudière, le barrage Little Chaudière et le barrage de Portage jouent un rôle fondamental dans la gestion efficace des eaux. Ils permettent de maintenir un niveau d'eau propice à la navigation de plaisance et à la navigation commerciale dans le lac Nipissing tout en tenant compte des autres intérêts.
