Les prasinites sont des schistes chloriteux contenant de l'épidote et de l'amphibole.

Des marnes on passe aux schistes calcarifères appelés schistes lustrés dans les Alpes, qui renferment d'abord de la séricite et de la chlorite, puis de l'épidote, de la zoïsite et de l'actinote lorsque la calcite entre en réaction. Ce sont alors des prasinites.
