L'activation du CD23 (fcERII) à la surface de monocytes/macrophages humains déclenchée par la liaison de certains anticorps monoclonaux spécifiques ou IgE sous forme complexée multivalente conduit, finalement, à la production de médiateurs pro-inflammatoires. La stimulation du métabolisme de L-arginine entraîne la formation de L-citrulline et de NO (monoxyde d'azote); ce dernier active une guanylyl cyclase soluble (GCs) qui induit la production de GMPc puis, indirectement, celle d'AMPc.
