An artificial neuron in a neural network, consisting of a small amount of local memory and processing power. The output from a processing element is fanned out and becomes the input to many other elements.

OBS

The individual computational elements that make up most artificial neural-system models are rarely called artificial neurons; they are more often referred to as nodes, units, or processing elements (PEs).
