Project Ploughshares, a task force on disarmament and development, was founded in 1976. The organization held is first meeting at Friends House in Toronto. At the same time that this meeting brought together members of the historic peace churches (Mennonites, Dukhobors, Quakers and Bretheren), the Canadian Council of Churches had started another program, which they called Canadian Defence Alternatives. The two groups were merged, and eventually took the name Project Ploughshares. Today, the organization, sponsored by the Canadian Council of Churches, development agencies and others, is established in Waterloo, Ontario. 1, record 1, English, - Project%20Ploughshares

Project Ploughshares, un groupe de travail sur le désarmement et le développement, a été créé en 1976. L'organisme a tenu sa première réunion au Friends House à Toronto, réunion qui regroupait des membres d'églises reconnues pour leur travail pour le maintien de la paix (Mennonites, Dukhobors, Quakers et Bretheren). Au même moment, le Conseil canadien des Églises commençait un nouveau programme nommé Canadian Defence Alternatives. Les deux groupes ont alors décidé de fusionner et d'adopter le nom Project Ploughshares.
