(...) stade larvaire [d'un trilobite] (...); cette larve a la forme d'un écusson ovale et convexe dont la taille est de l'ordre du millimètre. Elle se réduit à un céphalon trilobé avec une glabelle où l'on distingue cinq segments vers la fin de ce stade, les lobes palpébraux sont visibles sur le bord antérieur et de nouveaux segments apparaissent à l'arrière, formant un protopygidium.
