The Provincial Schools Authority (PSA) was established in 1975 under the Provincial Schools Negotiations Act. The Act created a bargaining unit of all teachers employed in provincially operated schools. The PSA negotiates a collective agreement with the Federation of Provincial School Authority Teachers (FOPSAT) on behalf of the ministries of Education and Community Safety and Correctional Services. The PSA is the employer of record for teachers, principals and vice-principals. L'Administration des écoles provinciales a été créée en 1975 sous le régime de la loi sur la négociation collective dans les écoles provinciales. La loi a créé une unité de négociation regroupant tous les enseignants à l'emploi des écoles dont le fonctionnement est assuré par la province. L'Administration des écoles provinciales négocie une convention collective avec la Federation of Provincial School Authority Teachers (FOPSAT) au nom du ministère de l'Éducation et du ministère de la Sécurité communautaire et des Services correctionnels. L'Administration des écoles provinciales est l'employeur officiel du personnel enseignant, des directeurs et des directeurs adjoints.
