Il y aura également séquestration si le demandeur accepte de suivre une autre personne, dans un cas de prétendu vol à l'étalage par exemple, dans le but d'éviter une situation qui serait embarrassante. On a décrit ce genre de situation comme une sorte de séquestration psychologique, mail il s'agit d'une séquestration aussi réelle que si la personne avait été maîtrisée physiquement.
