La meule. Les segments abrasifs de la meule sont fabriqués individuellement et boulonnés à un noyau en béton armé. Ils se composent de grains abrasifs d'oxyde d'aluminium ou de carbure de silicium maintenus par un liant vitrifié. La couche abrasive mesure d'ordinaire plus ou moins 7 cm d'épaisseur et on remplace la meule lorsque cette dernière est complètement usée, soit après environ deux ans de service continu.
