The first synthetic organic rat poison of commercial importance was 1-naphthyl thiourea (antu), manufactured by reaction of 1-naphthylamine with ammonium thiocyanate. Another earlier organic rodenticide was 2-chloro-4-dimethylamino-6-methylpyrimidine (crimidine).
