Dans le domaine des pluies acides, on répartit généralement l'espace en trois subdivisions principales représentées par les termes : "local", "régional" et "global". Ces termes s'emploient en opposition les uns par rapport aux autres. La définition du terme "régional" reflète un certain consensus, chez les spécialistes, autour d'une distance d'environ quelques centaines de kilomètres. La distance précise, cependant, qu'on attribue à la subdivision "régional" varie grandement selon les auteurs consultés. Au-delà de la mesure purement physique, le terme "régional" désigne, indirectement, une distance suffisante pour que seule une source d'émission située sur un territoire autre que celui qui a été pollué puisse être tenue responsable (exopollution). 3, record 2, French, - r%C3%A9gional
