En effet, sauf pour les erreurs humaines, les pannes ne sont pas instantanées. Elles "préviennent". Dans cette première phase, les logiciels internes de l'ordinateur suffisent à compenser le mauvais fonctionnement. Sur ce type de panne, la téléprévention est donc parfaitement possible. Il suffit que le micro-ordinateur de surveillance prenne lui-même la décision d'avertir le centre de télémaintenance, dès que le nombre de tentatives infructueuses dépassé un nombre donné, pour qu'un rendez-vous puisse être fixé avec le client avant même que la panne se produise. L'utilisateur pourra ainsi choisir une période ne gênant pas l'exploitation de la machine.
