This award is given by the tournament's organizing committee, in cooperation with the City of Richmond. It was created in honour of René Thibault, one of the tournament's founders and a great volunteer in the community of Richmond, who passed away in 1994. Instauré en 1995 par le comité organisateur du tournoi national atome Mousquiri et la Ville de Richmond, le "Prix d'Excellence René Thibault" créé en l'honneur de l'un des grands bâtisseurs du tournoi et un grand bénévole au sein de la communauté, Me René Thibault, décédé au printemps 1994. Ce prix tient à souligner les réalisations, les succès, l'implication bénévole, bref l'excellence des hommes et des femmes de notre région qui se distinguent dans différents secteurs d'activités (sport, affaires, culture, arts, mode, bénévolat et autres ).
