CONT

Thorvaldson maintains that reparative sentencing (stressing the needs of the victim) will become more prevalent in Canada. Among the changes he sees taking place in future years are the following: sanctions such as compensation, restitution, community service and victim service will be established and imposed by criminal courts as independent sanctions, i.e., as dispositions which are independent of any other sanctions such as probation or fines.

CONT
