Les auteurs notent qu’une première expérience accroît l’acceptabilité de ce service, bien qu’environ un tiers des patients ayant vu une infirmière préfèrent revenir voir un médecin. Après deux semaines, le taux de reconsultation est de 20 % dans les deux groupes. Par ailleurs, les patients devaient décrire leur état de santé en indiquant s’ils sont guéris, s’ils vont mieux, si c’est pareil ou s’ils vont moins bien. Il n’y a pas de différence significative entre les deux groupes.
