La filtration gravitaire ne semble pas une voie prometteuse en raison du colmatage du milieu filtrant. Nous décrivons ci-dessous deux types de filtres encore au niveau expérimental, qui semblent efficaces : - le filtre à cendre volante à circulation d'eau ascendante, - le filtre immergé à fragments de roches (AFEE, Le lagunage, 1976, p. 91).
