The Salmonid Association of Eastern Newfoundland (SAEN) is a conservation group dedicated to the preservation of [the] province's freshwater resources. Since 1979 this group of volunteers has carried out conservation, research, education, and enhancement projects worth over $6 million. ... [The association is] affiliated with the Salmonid Council of Newfoundland and Labrador (SCNL), and with the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF).

For over a decade the Salmonid Association of Eastern Newfoundland has worked to: educate fellow Newfoundlanders and Labradorians about [their] fish and the need for conservation; protect [the] remaining freshwater fish species through conservation measures and by providing technical advice to industry and governments; [and] rebuild [their] native stocks.

The goals of S.A.E.N. are to: further the conservation, protection, enhancement, and wise management of the Atlantic salmon and trout; educate the public on the social and economic values of Atlantic salmon and trout; [and] promote an appreciation of sportsmanlike methods in angling.
