Dans la cabine de commande d'une locomotive, système qui surveille pour assurer que le mécanicien exécute à intervalles certaines actions déterminées (appuyer sur tel bouton, actionner la sirène, mettre les freins, etc.) et qui, si le mécanicien n'exécute pas l'action, déclenche un serrage à fond des freins. Les intervalles raccourcissent à mesure que la vitesse du train augmente. (rens. obtenu de M. McGown, du Comité des transports par chemin de fer (normes) pour la traduction de l'article 30 du Règlement sur le matériel de traction des chemins de fer (modification du règlement) J'ai préféré "contrôle" à commande parce que le système surveille en quelque sorte divers instruments de la cabine de commande et agit s'il ne reçoit pas certaines impulsions à intervalles.
