Roche essentiellement composée d'un chlorure (halite, sylvinite), d'un nitrate ou d'un sulfate (gypse).

CONT

Le nom d'évaporite ou roche saline, s'applique à toute roche sédimentaire d'origine chimique, formée par précipitation de sels originairement dissous dans l'eau d'un bassin sédimentaire, à la suite de l'évaporation et de la sursaturation de la masse liquide.

CONT

La grande majorité des roches sont insolubles dans l'eau et seules sont solubles les roches salines et, à moindre titre, les roches carbonatées.
