SAND ABRASION [1 record]

Record 1 2007-04-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Plant and Crop Production
OBS

Where [plants] are grown on light sandy soils, high winds often blow sand in exposed areas when the plants are small. Stems and fruit on the windward side may be injured by the force of the drifting sans. After 2 or 3 days the injury shows as superficial, light tan-colored roughened areas. If injury is severe, dead areas develop along the stems and on the fruit, and distorted growth results.

OBS
