L'égreneuse à scies ( dite saw-gin) comporte 60, 70 ou 80 scies circulaires à denture très fine, montées sur un axe et tournant à 450 tr/min. Elles pénètrent, pour une partie de leur rotation, dans un bac dont une des parois est formée de barre aux de grille placés entre les scies. Les fibres sont accrochées et entraînées par les dents de scies, alors que les graines ne peuvent passer entre les barreaux de grilles et sont arrachés.
