Détecteurs utilisés en spectroscopie [gamma] et X […] ces détecteurs comprennent […] un milieu scintillant, qui est le détecteur proprement dit, associé à un tube photomultiplicateur, qui permet de compter les photons de désexcitation.

OBS

Le choix du milieu scintillant se fait selon de nombreux critères. Pour une même énergie déposée, il doit donner lieu à un nombre maximal d’états excités. Ceux-ci doivent se désexciter le plus rapidement possible et dans un domaine de longueur d’onde compatible avec la transparence du milieu détecteur et correspondant à une zone de bonne sensibilité des appareils de comptage.
