DEF

Paring off low and surface vegetation, together with most of its roots, to expose a weed-free soil surface, generally preparatory to sowing or planting thereon.

CONT

Screefing. When necessary the planters use their planting sticks to screef a space for the seedling to be planted. This has proved to be very advantageous and to increase seedling survival on untreated soils.

CONT
