CONT

In the USA, it has been standard practice to drive securing pins through overlaps in the geotextile filter, at 0.6 to 1.5 m centres, even if the joints are sewn or heat-bonded. With unbounded rip-rap on some sites, there is a tendency for the stone to move after placement as it settles into its final resting position. As this has been found to cause tears in the geotextile at the securing pins, it now appears safer to place the geotextile fairly loosely over the prepared surface, using the minimum possible number of securing pins.

OBS
